All my wedding packages include an outdoor engagement session. I have couples who asks me, “What is an engagement session? Do we need this since we are already engaged?” My reply is as always “of coz you do!” 
The idea of an engagement session (or e-session) really originates from other countries such as the US and Australia. Usually, wedding packages from these overseas photographers include e-sessions. The purpose of such a session is for the couple and photographer to get to meet and know one another, so that during the actual wedding day, everyone would be comfy and great images will be created!
For my couples and I, we really enjoy e-sessions. It is an opportunity for them to look really natural and cool before the big day, to celebrate their love before joining as one. It is also a chance for me to discover little bits of them. Those little nuances of personality that I try to capture in each frame. But it is really about all of us having loads of fun!
